Over 7yrs ago Woolworths had the foresight to commission a water treatment plant for their head office.

Optima Process Engineering (Pty) Ltd were invited to design, manufacture and install the water treatment plant system utilising a number of steps in the design including reverse osmosis. The water is used to flush toilets, run the building’s car wash, the fountain outside the building and the cooling towers for the air-conditioning units and was extended to service three other buildings in the precinct. The treated water is of a WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION potable standard even though it is not used as drinking water. This will save the Cape Town municipality an estimated 37,8 MILLION LITRES of water a year.

The project was awarded a GLOBAL FM GOLD AWARD.
